Kyoto discipline, New York energy

Kyoto-Fu opened on Ninth Avenue with a simple idea: bring the restraint and seasonality of Kyoto cooking to a neighborhood that never slows down, and do it without pretense.

How we cook

Kyoto cuisine grew up around temples, tea and the seasons. It values the ingredient over the sauce, the moment over the menu. Our kitchen follows that: fish is cut when you order it, rice is seasoned in small batches through the night, and the robata is lit an hour before service so the charcoal is ready when you are.

The room is intentionally small. Eight seats at the hinoki counter, a dining room of 38, a private room for 16. It lets us keep the pace right and the conversation possible.

01
Sourced with care. Fish from Toyosu three times a week, Kyoto vegetables in season, wagyu from Miyazaki, tea from Uji, sake from Fushimi and Niigata.
02
Made at the counter. Nigiri is formed to order. Nothing is pre-cut, pre-rolled or held under a lamp.
03
Priced in the open. Every dish and every pour has its price on the menu and on this site. No supplements you find out about afterward.
04
Service that pays attention. Sake sommelier on the floor nightly; dietary needs handled at reservation, not at the table.
Illustrated entrance with indigo noren curtains and red lanterns
